We are now living in an age of transition; where medical advances and technological breakthroughs are bringing us ever closer to extending our lives to our 80’s and beyond, as Centenarians, who will exceed far beyond the present cap on human longevity – 122 years. I’ve heard from people who are under 50, and believe this will not affect their lives. Yet we are in greater control of the extent of our lives than we think; if one has the discipline needed to slow down the aging clock within, he/she must first rid their bodies of bad habits.
It makes very little sense to embark upon a healthy life style, carrying the canceling effects of smoking, drinking, pills, hard drugs, etc.. You wouldn’t expect your car to get you from A to B without the proper maintenance would you? The same applies to you as a being; one bad part, and the entire system can shut down! Let’s take a look at what we need to work on, to promote a more promising future! And we are tougher than we think we are. Once you get going, it’s easier to keep going! In fact, your body will crave it… Good health…
It’s a known fact that those of us who are forced to use our brains for actual thinking, live longer! Especially among the elderly, things like dementia, short-term memory loss, are prevalent among those who don’t exercise their minds on a regular basis; that’s why things such as blogging can be important for the elderly, because it forces one to keep exploring, or ele-wise be at a loss for what to write about.
Keeping our minds tuned instead, brings us ambition, curiosity, determination and enthusiasm; all the things you need to succeed in life. It doesn’t necessarily mean money. It just means being happy with who we are. Heightened awareness, is a vital part of that process! It’s good to remember that without discipline, all else is lost…
Anger is just not good! It confuses the issue, building things all out of proportion! It raises your blood pressure to dangerously high levels! And it only alienates ourselves from others! It takes a conscious effort to avoid blowing our tops, because the more we do it, the more we tend to do it! To accomplish this, we must not only forgive people for why they do what they do, we must also think up a reason why they do it!
Sometimes it’s better to allow yourself to be ‘wronged’, than spending all day arguing, just to prove your point! Many things have a way of working themselves out without you feeling you need to control every situation!
Treat people well in spite of themselves, or you’re in big trouble! My advice to begin, is to always ask pertinent questions rather than remain in the dark. Think twice before you speak, and meditate for at least one hour a day; peace and quiet! No distractions! Make it a point to everyone, or find a private place if you must…
Emotional stability helps to keep your body chemically stable as well; something paramount to your survival! Consciously stop yourself from thinking badly of anyone by concentrating on their good qualities. In fact, always bend over backwards to help, no matter how curmudgeonly you think they are, and watch the magical transformation in their attitude toward you! Do this, and you’ll be a lot happier, guaranteed!
Vegetables fill you up in exchange for the least amount of calories, and the highest amount of nutrition! Now that’s a bargain if there ever was one! And, the more diverse your selection of fruits and vegetables, the more diverse the bacterial culture in your stomach; an intricate part of your immune system.
Bok Choi actually has fewer calories than your body needs to burn it, so eating it can actually make you thinner! And sweet potatos hold more nutritional value than any other vegetable! Cauliflower and broccoli are considered super vegetables as well.
Here are a few things easy to remember. A tomato is good for your heart. It has four chambers, just like your heart does. Kidney beans are shaped like your kidneys, and they are also good for them. Open a walnut. It looks like a little brain, and you got it; good for your brain! A diet of nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables is followed by heightened awareness, where-as too many carbs make you sleepy. Intelligence, emotions and diet are all tied in with???
You don’t want to be this guy unless you’re up for a heart attack… Start out slowly. Walk at a regular pace for around 20 minutes for the first month. Then pick up your pace, and do that for a month. Then gradually increase your distance until you can do a fast hour walk every day. This is sufficient. Running will more than likely cause injury to your joints and make you quit!
Tip: Lift weights! I do 15 lifts of 42 lbs. every second day. Lift what feels comfortable to you (what doesn’t cause straining.) Muscle burns calories 15 times faster than fat! So anaerobic exercise is important for shedding fat as well! Drink lots of cold water every day! It helps to cleanse your insides, and burns calories while you’re sitting still, for your body to heat it up! In return, you’ll always feel terrific!
So much to choose from! How do you know what’s right for you? Glad you asked! Regular vitamin supplements are just about all the same. I add Omega 3 for a healthy heart and brain. I take Co Q10 because it insures you have healthy mitochondria, which has its own set of DNA instructions, and is most vulnerable to attack, because it doesn’t reside within the nucleus of the cell! I also take PQQ because it makes new mitochondria from dying cells, all contributing to slowing down how quickly I age! If you’re 60 and you smoke, you’re aging 12,000 times faster than a 9-year-old! Not a good thing!
I can’t over emphasize how important oral hygiene is! Always use a spin brush twice a day, and rinse twice daily as well… Remove things from between your teeth. Even just a quick rinse with water every time you have a sweet snake (in fruit form). Dentures are no fun! I still have my own teeth at 63, only because I started taking care of myself 3 years ago, and was just in time to save my teeth!
So: Intelligence, emotional stability, diet, exercise, and supplements need to all work in tandem to make a healthy person! This will not only give you a shot at a longer life, but a much more enjoyable one as well! Soon Cancer and Heart Disease will be things of the past! Aging will soon be treated, and eventually cured; just like any other disease. And you can take part! All you need is discipline… Play your cards right, and you could just live on indefinately 🙂
