I suppose galleries are just fine for some people. I really don’t want to rain on the parade of those who use galleries. Try to remember that this is my opinion only. My intent is not to dissuade you from using galleries. It’s just that some of us have this uncomfortable feeling about them. I would like to see improvements in the way WordPress functions, as I’m sure they would as well. I don’t know by what percentage, yet I seem to detect a shortage of gallery usage. And here in my opinion is why.
I don’t want my audience to see the pictures in short form, and jumbled up with all the others. It looks confusing, and takes away (in my opinion), some of the impact of seeing them large, one at a time.
My suggestion is, that a link only, be presented on your site that puts you directly into the slide show. In this case, I would use galleries, know that the full impact of my pictures is still there.
Right now, I find if I double-click a picture, it goes to a larger size. Then if I click it again, it becomes full-size and can easily be right clicked and downloaded. Don’t just right-click the picture as is and expect a full size picture. That won’t happen unless you make it a full-sized picture via the instructions I’ve given you. Awe Heck! Do you want me to stay with galleries? I don’t know what to do here. I just don’t particularly like their original presentation style on my blog… Then again, I don’t want to deprive you of a good slide show. I’m lost without a proper concensis… I already tried contact forms, but they just filled in the fields with my own information. <Sigh> What’s a blogger to do?
