Tai Chi Chuan (Taijiquan) is an ancient Chinese “internal” or “soft” martial art often practiced for its health-giving and spiritual benefits; it is non-competitive, gentle, and generally slow-paced. By increasing strength, flexibility, body awareness and mental concentration tai chi can improve your health. Contrary to the Western concept of “no pain, no gain” one hour of tai chi actually burns more calories than surfing and nearly as many as downhill skiing, so it’s a veritable workout.
Yoga, and breathing exercises aren’t a bad idea either. One idea for breathing exercises is when I take a bath. I know many women prefer the soothing effects of bathing. “I’M NOT A WOMAN JUST CUZ I LIKE IT TOO! BACK OFF OK!? JUST BACK OFF!” Where was I, before I was so rudely interrupted? (Think Daffy Duck.) Oh yeah! LOL!
It takes 3 minutes at least to allow conditioner to soak into your hair during a bath. So what are you going to do? Sail your boat? This is the perfect time for breathing exercises!
How are breathing exercises important to you. For one thing, they actually help you lose weight. It improves lung capacity and rids your body of harmful toxins! 1) Put conditioner in hair. Rub viciously into hair. 2) Submerge in hot (Not over 150 degrees F. Not scalding hot!) water up to your neck, resting comfortably against the back of the tub. 3) Take the first breath in as if you were going to sigh and then let all the air out, hold your stomach flat like that for 3 seconds. 4) Now take in a deep breath for seven seconds, saying to yourself: “In with the good air.” 5) Hold it for 3 seconds. 6) Exhale everything slowly, saying to yourself “Out with the bad air.” Do this for 3 minutes, then rinse and you’ll have silky, shiny hair. LOL! Seriously, I don’t know why, but this really works…
Yoga? It won’t take long either. Reach down and grab the back of your ankles, bending the knees as little as possible. Lower your head right down and let the oxygen flow to your brain for a minute… Be careful to hold your balance and slowly raise up, stretching your arms above your head, stretching for the sky. Hold position for 20 seconds. This does your entire body a huge favor after a nights sleep and is very invigorating!
You can do these things every day, for less than 5 minutes and have significantly improved your body, mind, and spirit, to face your day. Oh, I almost forgot. Here is the URL to the Tai Chi web site. Check it out: http://www.wikihow.com/Learn-Tai-Chi
